Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

Boiling data. Egg size, doneness level, boiling method, egg temperature, calculated altitude adjustment, and your session history and ratings. This is stored on your device at all times. If you create an account, it is also stored on our server so it can sync across your devices.

Location data. If you grant location permission, we use your device’s location once to calculate your altitude and approximate city name, so the timer can adjust for how altitude affects boiling. You can deny this permission at any time and enter your altitude manually instead; the app works the same either way.

Account data. If you choose to create an account (by email/password or Google sign-in), we collect your email address and a display name. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Account data is stored securely and used only to operate your account and sync your boiling data and preferences.

Contact form data. If you write to us through the form on the contact page, we receive your name, email address, chosen topic and message. We use them only to answer you, and we keep the correspondence only as long as dealing with your enquiry requires.

Analytics data. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used: for example, which screens are viewed and which features are used (starting a timer, rating a session, completing onboarding). This data is tied to an anonymous, resettable device identifier, not your name or email. On the website, we use Google Analytics, but only if you agree to analytics cookies; see our Cookie Policy.

Crash and diagnostic data. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports if the app fails, including device model, OS version, and a technical stack trace of the error. This helps us fix bugs; it is not used to identify you personally.

Advertising data. The app currently shows no ads. No requests are made to any ad network, your device’s advertising identifier is not read, and no data is shared for advertising purposes.

2. Why we process this data

• To run the core timer and calculation features (performance of our agreement with you when you use the app).
• To operate optional account and sync features you request.
• To understand and improve the app and fix bugs (our legitimate interest in keeping the app working well).

3. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the app:

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and our backend infrastructure). See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics: on the website only, and only if you accepted analytics cookies.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country, including outside the EEA/UK, under Google’s standard data-protection safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

4. How long we keep it

Data stored only on your device stays there until you delete the app or clear its storage. If you have an account, we keep your account data and synced history until you delete your account, after which we delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep something to comply with the law. Analytics and crash data are kept according to Firebase’s standard retention periods.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent (for location) at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@eggmaster.app. If you’re in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Children

EggMaster is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at hello@eggmaster.app and we’ll delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage for authentication tokens (via secure device storage) and encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll update the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll make that clear in the app or on this site.
